Lake Helen has mended some water wounds with the most recent update. Lake Helen Public Works Director Rick Mullin announced March 14 that new water meters have been delivered and installation will begin within four weeks.
The older meters caused pandemonium throughout Lake Helen for years. The Beacon previously reported that “For two years, 300 faulty meters have not allowed the staff to read customers’ water usage, giving roughly one-fifth of Lake Helen residents base water bills of $74 a quarter, instead of the charges for what they had actually used.”
The installation of the new meters will finally allow residents to pay for their water usage per household instead of by a base fee.
