If you have anything pressing to do before the end of the month or the end of the first quarter of 2024, you may want to get it done today.

Many city halls, county and state government offices, along with many professional offices, will be closed tomorrow in observance of Good Friday. That includes the Volusia County Tax Collector’s Office. The deadline for paying 2024 property taxes and special assessments is March 31, which this year falls on Sunday, or Easter.

Because of the way the days fall this year, “the deadline for payments made in the office moves to the next business day,” according to Holly Smith, the public-affairs administrator for Tax Collector Will Roberts. That next business day this year is Monday, April 1.

“However, mailed payments must be postmarked by March 31,” Smith added.

Those who do not pay their tax bills on or before the deadline risk being charged interest and late fees for the delinquent taxes.
