Two DeLand-based, woman-owned businesses have earned a Grand Award in the 2024 Volusia Building Industry Association’s Parade of Homes.
The award is in recognition of Camelot Custom Construction, owned by Tanya Ebersole, and Nikki’s Furniture & Décor, owned by Nikki Bridegroom, and represents the hard work, creativity and collaboration of two local, entrepreneurial businesses.
The Parade of Homes is an annual, free and self-guided tour of model, spec and pre-sold homes — scattered throughout Volusia County — that highlights new builds that are then decorated “to the nines” in order to showcase each home during the special event.
This was Bridegroom’s first entry into the Parade of Homes, and she remarked that “it was a very exciting venture.”
“There were 1,300 square feet, for the patio alone!” Bridegroom said. Bridegroom spoke highly of collaborating with Ebersole and reflected upon the quality that can be found when consumers consider local options for construction to décor, and everything in between.
“You can get high fashion and high design right here in DeLand … our Downtown DeLand is phenomenal,” Bridegroom said. “As a small-business owner, it is part of our responsibility… to send [visitors of Nikki’s Furniture and Décor] to other small businesses in DeLand.”
The Parade of Homes occurred in late April of this year, and according to the
Volusia Building Industry Association, “With hundreds of new homes across the region, visitors can choose to visit them by location, price range and style. As a whole, the Parade of Homes truly does showcase the entire range of what new homes have to offer. Homes are all open during specified hours over three weekends, and each home is priced accurately so you can see real costs associated with buying a new home.”
The Camelot Custom Construction home that earned the award is located in DeLand and is owned by Tina and James Houck. The Houcks’ new home earned two blue ribbons — one for “best master suite,” and not to overlook the four-legged family members — one for a custom dog bath in the home’s laundry room.
