Editor, The Beacon:

I want to say how great the DeLand Police Department is. Recently, I lost my car and house keys while playing with my new 5-month-old Maltese puppy, Bibi, at Earl Brown Park in DeLand.

I looked for an hour everywhere and couldn’t find them. We were both hot and thirsty. I didn’t know what to do — so I called the DeLand Police Department.

Five officers combed up and down for an hour. They even brought their K-9 dog to sniff for the keys. The police dog was so big, I was worried for my little dog, so an officer held Bibi for me the whole time while they looked.

Finally they found the keys after looking and looking and looking.

The officers were so wonderful and kind. The cost to replace all my locks and get a new car key could have been up to $600.

The officers’ attitude was so great, and I’m just here to say they are very deserving and so kind.

Please consider donating a metal detector to the DPD (and any other donations you wish) for these wonderful and kind officers!
