One business may soon give way to another.

Plans for a new Dunkin’ Donuts along Orange City’s main street are in the works.

The Sparkle and Shine Automatic Car Wash, located at 1050 S. Volusia Ave. — also known as U.S. Highway 17-92 — may be demolished and replaced by the Dunkin’ store, complete with indoor tables and a drive-up window.

In order to receive the city’s OK to build the restaurant on a site of less than an acre, city officials required the developer to prevent stacking of traffic onto the highway, Thus, drivers coming to pick up their orders will circulate in a traffic pattern leading to a drive-through lane. The new Dunkin’ will enclose 1,910 square feet.
