What seemed like a Who’s Who in Volusia County drew hundreds to the Volusia County Fairgrounds Aug. 6, when the DeLand and Greater West Volusia Chamber of Commerce staged the Hob Nob in advance of the primary election.

Elected officials and those vying for office had plenty of time to mix, mingle and sound off about the issues near and dear to them as the Aug. 20 primary drew near. Candidates for a host of local, state and federal offices were on hand or were represented by supporters eager to secure commitments from voters. Approximately 400 people — not counting candidates — attended the event, and 360 voted in straw poll.
