Our family has proudly supported The West Volusia Beacon since its founding in 1992. As DeLand thrives, The Beacon has been a crucial part of our community’s success.
Local newspapers play an essential role in reporting on local matters, fostering connections, holding the government accountable, promoting local businesses, and providing a platform for diverse opinions. Every issue of The Beacon reveals something new and valuable about our community.
I had the privilege of working in advertising sales at The Beacon for two years, where I witnessed firsthand the newsroom’s dedication to uncovering the truth and addressing local issues. Their commitment to serving our citizens and protecting our town is truly commendable.
Unfortunately, local newspapers are disappearing across the country, and it’s vital that we come together to support The Beacon.
You can help! Your tax-deductible donations are crucial for keeping The Beacon‘s presses running. Let’s ensure DeLand isn’t another statistic in the decline of community newspapers. Together, we can keep our voice alive!

When the local newspaper is just that then people will support it again. This paper is ran by a person that is vehemently opinionated. The slant to all stories are her opinion. I went to artisan Alley to go to a local business and she accosted me about parking in a space she sold to a business owner. Not marked for anyone. I owned a business in town for close to 2 decades. People like her ruined our town. I don’t go in town unless I have no choice.
