DeLand police seeking public’s help in reported hit and run

DeLand detectives are seeking the community’s help as they investigate a reported hit and run crash in the Bent Oaks subdivision. On November 15, 2024, around 6 p.m., a 29-year-old man was riding an electric bicycle eastbound on E. Taylor Road. As the bicyclist crossed the main entrance of the Bent Oaks subdivision, a vehicle entered the area and struck him. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and continued into the subdivision. The car was not located. The suspect vehicle is described as a small silver or light-colored passenger car, possibly a Nissan, and may have minor to moderate front-end damage. Witnesses reported the vehicle was possibly occupied by three individuals. Sadly, the victim died of his injuries on November 20, 2024. The DeLand Police Department urges anyone with information about this case to come forward.
