Alcohol consumption is harmful to society

Editor, The Beacon:

To say it is not a “good idea” to consume alcohol for recreational or therapeutic purposes significantly underscores the overtly obvious adverse effects alcohol has on the child, adult and society.

Consuming it recreationally is not that different from sniffing glue (it just takes more time). Why gain weight by adding calories to your alcohol?

How can adding a solvent to creatively concocted juices and flavors be fun? What is the allure of becoming stunningly incoherent and irrational? Are there so few risks in life that increasing the odds of getting an STD or a head wound is justifiable? Are friends as indispensable as your liver to experience happiness?

As a chemical, alcohol has no inherent therapeutic properties. Quite the contrary: Alcohol destroys tissue. Our bodies thrive on fats and oils, while alcohol dilutes and weakens them. There is no medical, psychological or emotional benefit to consuming a toxic and deadly poison regardless of any bizarre rationalization.

There is no “acceptable level” of alcohol consumption: only acceptable to the declarations of weaklings, cowards or obstinate enculturated fools. Alcohol offers no benefits and, contrary to popular opinion, it destroys society’s fabric.

Ninety thousand lives are lost annually due to alcohol consumption in the USA. That’s 20,000 more than those who die from fentanyl. And unlike fentanyl, in the case of alcohol, a person who does not consume alcohol is more likely to be a victim of alcohol than fentanyl abuse.

Rape, aggression, theft, vandalism, spousal abuse, child neglect,

infidelity and moving vehicle fatalities are just a few of the consequences that impact all of us (not to mention debilitating health consequences). But those “brave abortion warriors” turn a blind eye, instead picking on vulnerable defenseless women and families.

It’s clear the government has no concern about your health. If the government can take a cut, it has no problem enabling those who profit and exploit your weakness and stupidity.
