Editor, The Beacon:
I am writing this letter to complain about how the City of Deltona, my city, claims they are here to help its citizens. Not true!
I am a 75-year-old single grandmother without the money to fix my problem; I have septic problems, need a new drain field at a cost of $4,000-$5,000 (per quotes) and due to the City of Deltona’s additionally added stipulation, they refused.
It’s a discretionary stipulation that other community-assistance
programs throughout the state do not require. I feel it is an unreasonable policy in place since the beginning of time, and doesn’t reflect the needs of the people in 2024-25!!
I need help! I have no one to help. I’m on Social Security and have a pension, monthly less than $2,000-a-month income. I’ve owned my home for seven-and-a-half years, and I really like Deltona’s Sheriff Chitwood, who makes me feel safe.
I have contacted and applied for assistance from A to Z, but
because I live in the city of Deltona, assistance can only come from the funding that the government has given to the city for housing and community help.
Happy Holidays, City of Deltona
