The DeLand police department is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred early Dec. 26. A white semitruck with a trailer was turning into the southwest entrance of the Winn-Dixie loading area on South Spring Garden Avenue. 

The truck struck an adult male, who was pronounced dead on the scene. The cause of death is still under investigation, and the identity of the victim is withheld pending notification of the victim’s next of kin.
