The Orange City Council is in search of a representative to fill their District 3 seat. The recent vacancy of the position follows the death of Alex Tiamson, who also served as the vice mayor of Orange City.

Applications for the position opened on Jan. 15 and will close on Jan. 29. At a special meeting on Feb. 3, Orange City representatives will conduct interviews of potential candidates.

The Orange City council will make a final vote to decide the winner at their meeting on Feb. 11. In addition to deciding who will fill the District 3 seat, the council will also elect a new vice mayor.

Dawn Tiamson, wife of the former vice mayor, announced that she would be running to fill her late husband’s position at the Orange City council meeting on Jan. 14.

“It’s always been my duty to honor my husband,” Tiamson said. “I believe Alex would encourage me to continue his initiatives for the city of Orange City, and it would be my honor to serve.”

The person elected to serve on the city council will hold the position until the next election in November 2026.
