A child riding a mini-bike was injured on Feb. 9, in a collision with a vehicle in north DeLand. 

At approximately 4:47 p.m., a white Volkswagen sedan traveling northbound on Cades Cove Way approached Orator Lane and struck a 10-year-old boy riding a miniature-style motorcycle heading southbound on Cades Cove Way. Both the mini-bike and the sedan entered the intersection and collided. The DeLand Police Department’s motor unit responded to the scene to investigate the accident.

The boy was airlifted to Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital by Air One, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
