Simmons and Thomas Muniz as Harold Nichols.

DeLand, get ready for the ride of your life! The Full Monty is hitting theAthens Theatre from Friday, Feb. 28, to Sunday, March 23, and it’s bringing more laughs, heart and scandalous fun than you ever expected! Six down-on-their-luck steelworkers from Buffalo — facing financial ruin — decide to bare it all (just enough) in a wild plan to make quick cash by becoming male strippers for one unforgettable night.

What starts as a desperate, hilariously outrageous scheme transforms into an uproarious journey of self-discovery, friendship, and the kind of laughs that will have you gasping for air. Get ready for a show that strips away your expectations and leaves you laughing in ways you never imagined!

As these down-on-their-luck men strip away their, ummmmm, insecurities, they realize that true strength isn’t about their bodies, but about embracing who they are and supporting each other. As the big night approaches, they prove that real courage lies in stepping outside your comfort zone and facing the world head-on.

Expect over-the-top humor, catchy songs, and a finale that will leave you laughing, cheering, and maybe even a little in awe. This show isn’t just about taking clothes off — it’s about shedding all the things that hold us back.

LET’S STRIP DOWN TO THE BASICS! — As the curtain rises for the gents in The Full Monty, what will it reveal?!

Leading this fearless and talented cast are Johnny Flanagan (Spamalot, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) as Jerry Lukowski, Paul Lance (Beauty and the Beast, Hello, Dolly!) as Dave Bukatinsky, Eduardo A. Rivera (most recently Collins in RENT, Ain’t Misbehavin’) as Noah “Horse” T. Simmons, Gavin Waid (Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, CHICAGO) as Malcolm McGregor, Nikolas Alexander (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Hades/Eros in Metamorphoses) as Ethan Girard, and Thomas Muniz (last seen in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Clue) as Harold Nichols.

Desperate times call for daring measures, and these men are ready to risk it all — literally — for one shot at turning their lives around.

Trevor Southworth, known for directing numerous musicals at the Athens, including most recently Stephen King’s Misery and ELF, brings his experience and passion to the stage as director. Kim Ball choreographs, while Chris Endsley serves as musical director.

Be sure to raise a glass at the complimentary champagne toast on opening night!

The Full Monty will also offer an ASL/English interpreted performance Friday, March 14, and an audio-described performance Sunday, March 16, ensuring accessibility for a wider audience.

With its mix of heartfelt storytelling, infectious energy and sidesplitting comedy, The Full Monty is a must-see theatrical event. But beyond the laughs and lively music, this production isn’t afraid to push boundaries, tackling themes of masculinity and vulnerability with humor and raw honesty. Unapologetically daring, undeniably fun and packed with surprises, The Full Monty guarantees an unforgettable night at the theater. Filled with outrageous humor and unexpected emotional depth, one thing is certain — you won’t want to miss a single second of this high-energy musical.
