
Deltona Health Expo & Blood Drive
On Sunday, March 30, the Deltona Health Expo & Blood Drive will take place 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Deltona Seventh-Day Adventist Church. There will be health screenings and giveaways.
Those donating blood will receive a $10 Publix gift card, a T-shirt, hand sanitizer and a pen! A fire truck and Volusia Sheriff’s Office vehicle will be there for kids young and old to explore.

Taizé Service
Church of the Holy Presence in DeLand is hosting a Taizé Service at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 29. Taizé prayer is an evening prayer for all Christian faiths.
Mantra songs (like “Jesus, Remember Me”), prayerful silence, and short readings guide the focus of the prayer in a candlelit environment.
Fish Fry Fundraiser
The Fish Fry Fundraiser continues 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, at St. Peter Catholic Church in DeLand. The fundraiser is hosted by the Knights of Columbus.
The menu includes mild white cod either fried, blackened or grilled, with Tater Tots, hush puppies, coleslaw and applesauce and beverages. The cost is a donation of $12 per meal and $3 for beer or sangria. All proceeds will go to the church.
‘Bury Your Darlings’
The congregation of Mosaic Unitarian Universalist meets online every Sunday. The March 30 service is titled “Bury Your Darlings.”
For 34 years in the 20th century, a set of censorship guidelines called the Hays Code limited what could and could not take place on movie screens, in order to avoid political pushback.
This Sunday, Deanna Leary will dive into the journey queer storytelling has taken to keep their stories alive. Everyone is welcome!
1st Church DeLand activities
First Church DeLand continues the series “Famous Last Words.” On Sunday, March 30, Pastor Mark Bitner’s sermon title will be “My God, My God, Why?” Mark 15:33-41
During the most difficult times in our lives, we may feel that darkness has overtaken us. During His darkest hour, Christ looked to God for answers as He was experiencing the agony of the cross.
Christ did not succumb to His own anguish, but instead surrendered Himself to God’s will because He knew there was a higher plan.
Vacation Bible School will have as this year’s theme “True North.” Registration opens Monday, April 14, and the school will be 9 a.m.-noon Monday, June 23, through Friday, June 27, for children in prekindergarten through fifth grade.
Abundant grace
Jesus famously said that he came so that we might have life — and have it “abundantly” – to the fullest extent possible!
At 11 a.m. Sunday, March 30, at New Covenant Baptist Church in DeLand, the Rev. Abby Thornton Hailey will use the Parable of the Lost Sheep and the Prodigal Son to show how Abundant Grace is a part of an abundant life of faith.
New Covenant Baptist Church is a different kind of Baptist church, building a supportive community where all who search are welcome.

‘The Mountaintop Experience’
At First Presbyterian Church of DeLand on Sunday, March 30, a Combined Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. in person or online.
After worship, there will be the usual potluck lunch, with volunteers bringing sides and desserts to accompany an entree from the church kitchen.
Senior Pastor Michael Bodger will expand on “The Mountaintop Experience,” related in Mark 9:2-10 and identified often as “The Transfiguration.”
The First Presbyterian community has been studying Trevor Hudson’s Pauses for Lent to prepare for celebrating Easter. Hudson’s devotional topics for the last week (Treasure, Listen, Poor, Forgiven, Peace, Rest) led to the “straightforward and staggering” Transfiguration of this Sunday’s sermon.
The Chancel Choir is preparing for a spring concert on Sunday, April 27. Rehearsals are at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays. If you love to sing, join the choir.
1st Christian Church activities
The Rev. Carlos Perez of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of DeLand, on the fourth Sunday in Advent, March 30, will host a presentation by Disciples of Christ Regional Minister the Rev. Sandy Messick based on Matthew 6:25-34, that will remind folks not to worry.
Following the service, a light lunch will be provided to give attendees an opportunity to speak with Messick.
At 9:30 a.m., the adult Sunday-school class will focus on the topic “The Day of Atonement,” from Leviticus 16:11-19.
