The investigation into the incident currently “suggests it was a suicide,” the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said in response to a request from The Beacon.

Police are investigating a fatality found in a crashed vehicle in a grassy ditch near the Bravo Supermarkets sign adjacent to South U.S. Highway 17-92 near Enterprise Road in Orange City Friday, April 11.

According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, the current investigation “suggests it was a suicide.”

Photos taken at the scene and provided to The Beacon show investigators examining what appears to be straps tied around a concrete pillar in the parking lot. The truck, crashed into a ditch, is located about 100 feet away from the pillar.

Other photos reviewed by The Beacon from the scene show what appears to be the decapitated head of an older gentleman located in a grassy area near the pillar. The Sheriff’s Office also confirmed the deceased was decapitated.

Crime scene units were still on the scene as of 3 p.m. The incident was reported around 11 a.m.

  1. Sounds like This Guy was really thinking about a way that nobody has done. I’ll give him an A+. Yes, It for sure makers you wonder. SAD BUT TRUE.. 😔

  2. I would have to see picture from video to prove that. I don’t understand how he was decapitated and his truck is there.

  3. Are you actually suggesting a conspiracy theory ? WHAT ARE YOU THINKING AND STOP ! GOD, GET REAL. Shame on you.

  4. Don’t know how to post pic on here. My hubs friend works at the place where this happened. He got the pic. As good as he could get.

  5. I have never heard of this type of suicide, in and out of that plaza often too. Prayers to the guy and his friends and family. As far as this method goes, I take away suicide points for possibly endangering others. Once you floor it and you’re gone you didn’t gaf about where the truck ended up, it could’ve ended up on either 17 92 north bound or Enterprise either way it’s busy AF.
I wonder if the thought was 1st thought of as a hanging, but you need a good roof at least a 2 story and Bravo right then and there wasn’t a good option I suppose.
Wonder if he was a drinker? A couple of shots before pulling that off seems mandatory. Unless people leave a note no one will ever know what could drive someone to take their own life, then I remember a time or two, and pray for them again.

    • Sadly this was my uncle. I’m so sorry that he chose such a busy place but wish people hadn’t taken pictures. He was suffering from an inoperable brain tumor. He hasn’t been a drinker in years, but I’m sure the daily pain & inevitable future was making him not think so clearly. Prayers for my mother as that was her last & youngest brother.

  6. Beyond heartbreaking. Suicide is at an all time high. Condolences to all his family & friends. Luckily, no one else was hurt. I am curious though, does anyone know if he had just bought the rope at Harbor Freight?

  7. Weird that he came out of the pawn shop and did that. Why pawn or buy anything if that is the goal? Super suspicious and weird.

  8. The fact that there are DISGUSTING PEOPLE commenting here saying they have the photos/videos of what the man looks like and them approaching the truck when it happened is HORRIBLE.

Let that be your loved one and find out people are casually throwing your dead loved ones body around on the internet for sick freaks to see and laugh about.

To all of the people who have been spreading and posting this mans photos/videos, hell is hot. Thats where you’re all going sick freaks.

  9. Amen, this was a tragedy 😥 but it’s nice to see that other people are enjoying it😡 my heart goes out to the family🥰

  10. It wasn’t a suicide he was doing some work and the truck rolled, and the strap got caught on his neck and decapitate him
