A Chance for Redemption

August 26 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Presented by Daytona Beach natives producer Sheila Kay Davis, playwright Lynn W. Thompson and director Tai Thompson. Set in 1977, in a small business in the heart of midtown Daytona

Beach, this play illustrates that the issues that plagued communities of color then are still relevant and potentially devastating today. A day in the life of Joe “Deac” Russell takes us on an emotional roller coaster from amusement to fear to triumph. The characters share the common bond of Deac’s barbershop, the streets, and buildings of this historic neighborhood, whose true value to the future of the town may not be reflected in the current struggle of its people. But there also is something greater at work that sends forth glimmers of hope for a much brighter future, and a chance for redemption for a man and his community. Tickets: $10.
