Auditions for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

February 3, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

This play takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2,000-year-old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The story is about Pseudolus, a crafty slave, who struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan named Philia for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom. Those auditioning should prepare a short comedic monologue and one verse of a musical-theater song in the style of the show. Actors will also be taught a short movement routine and may be asked to read from the script. During the auditions, actors will be asked to complete a rehearsal application listing their conflicts. All actors should come to the theater with their own mask. All auditions will be conducted individually, and those waiting may wait inside or outside, but those waiting inside must stay masked. The play opens April 29. Free. Call 407-321-8111.
