Backyard Urban Chicken Online Class

Keeping chickens and producing your own eggs in suburban and urban settings is therapeutic and has become quite popular. Kalan Taylor, director of the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension, will discuss chicken breeds, proper housing, general health care, nutrition, manure management and food safety. She will also explain how to find out if your property is approved for raising backyard poultry. The instructor will include a section on avian flu and biosecurity measures. The registration fee is $10 per household. Each registration is good for all family members living at the same address.
