Dedication of the Bert Fish Room in the DeLand Memorial Hospital and Veterans Museum

The official opening of the newly renovated Bert Fish Room to recognize and honor the man whose commitment was to provide affordable health care to all those in Volusia County regardless of ability to pay. His leadership set in motion the funding of the old DeLand Memorial Hospital and was later realized in 1952 with the opening of Fish Memorial Hospital on East New York Avenue. Re-enactors will portray Bert Fish and Margaret Landis, a representative for the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary, which helped raise funds to build the first hospital. Free.
