9-11 a.m. meet at 90 Divito Drive, New Smyrna Beach. Join Environmental Specialists Tommy Nordmann and Holly Giles on a paddling trip in Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. Explore the mangroves and oyster beds near Strickland Bay and Turnbull Bay, and look for local wildlife, including dolphins and pelicans. Arrive 30 minutes prior to organize gear and complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program. A moderate paddling trip. Difficulty will depend on tides, wind and currents. Those age 10 and up are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Wear clothing appropriate for the outdoors and closed-toe shoes that can get wet. Bring watercraft (kayak, canoe or standup paddleboard), a personal flotation device (must be worn while paddling), emergency whistle, water to drink, sunscreen and bug spray. Free.
