Emancipation Day

A celebration of Gen. Edward M. McCook’s May 20, 1865, announcement in Tallahassee of President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation; this meant that all formerly enslaved people in Florida were free. Activities will include African dancers and drummers; a talk by Kinsha Kwando; poetry; re-enactors. Free and open to the public. Refreshments. Call 386-736-4004.
