‘From Village to Town: 50 Years of Progress’ Historic Oakdale Cemetery Walk

5:30-7 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery, 800 N. Clara Ave., DeLand. West Volusia Historical Society re-enactors will talk about notable hometown characters who helped shape the growth and progress of DeLand and Volusia County during the years 1923-73, including Alva Williams, Eleanora and Lessie Hagstrom, Edward C. Furlong III, Rabel Moreman Parson, Cary E. Landis, Rufus Pinkney and Betty Dreka Knox. Tours lasting 75 minutes leave every 20 minutes. Tickets: $20 WVHS members; $25 nonmembers; $15 children age 11 and younger. Advance reservation for reserved tour times is required. Deadline for reservations is 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11.
