A Stephen Sondheim musical based on the book by James Lapine, the play starts with the narrator presenting wishes. A childless Baker and his Wife wish for a baby. The stunted Jack wishes his cow would give milk, while his long-suffering Mother questions his intelligence. Little Red wants bread to take to Granny’s house in the woods (although she’ll probably eat it before arriving). And Cinderella simply wants to go to the King’s festival. See what happens.
