Local History Talk

Featuring Dr. Marvin Dunn. Hosted by the West Volusia Historical Society and Greater Union First Baptist Church of DeLand. Dr. Dunn, Professor Emeritus, Department of Psychology, Florida International University, Miami, will share perspectives and memories of his intriguing and rewarding life experiences, including the founding of the Dade County, FL Dr. Marvin Dunn Academy for Community Education – a model for other communities. Dr. Dunn was born in DeLand and spent part of his youth here before going on to Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA on a full tuition scholarship following his junior year in high school. Dr. Dunn served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and earned his PhD from University of Tennessee.
