Orange City Memory Day Tours

November 13, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Tours start at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Wava Hall, 200 N. Holly Ave., Orange City. Explore Orange City’s past through the Fire and Ice Tours. Hosted by the Orange City Historic Preservation Board. The Fire Tour (about 30 to 45 minutes) is a guided walking tour that focuses on the “burnt district,” where many of Orange City’s grand homes and businesses were impacted by the city’s worst fire, which occurred March 12, 1909. The Ice Tour (about one to one-and-a-half hours) is a guided walking tour through the northeast quarter of the historic district. See where historical figures, events and architectural examples of the past reveal the incredible rise of Orange City’s famed citrus industry. The tour will explore how the “great freeze” of 1895 led to the industry’s devastating end and the resulting impacts on the community.
