St. Paddy’s Day Block Party and Dog Costume Contest

1-9 p.m. block party on Beach Street from Orange Avenue to International Speedway Boulevard, Downtown Daytona Beach. Block Party attendees will discover several downtown restaurants offering dinner specials featuring Irish cuisine, beer, drinks and more. McK’s Tavern will provide traditional Irish dishes both inside and outside. Popular food trucks will offer festival food and adult beverages. Ample free parking is available behind the Beach Street Shops. 5 p.m. dog contest (4:30 p.m. check-in) on Beach Street at Orange Avenue. Participation is open to all dog breeds and sizes; registration is required. Complete the registration form at https://form.jotform.com/250436417941154, or in person on the day of the event. The entry fee is $15 per dog, with all proceeds benefiting Sophie’s Circle. All dogs must be accompanied by their owners or handlers and be kept on a leash or in a carrier.

Owners and handlers are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs, managing their behavior, and making sure dogs are current on vaccinations. Costumes must be safe and comfortable for dogs to wear. Any costume accessories (e.g., hats and glasses) should be securely attached to prevent injury or discomfort to the dog. Costumes should not hinder the dog’s movement or ability to see, hear or breathe.
