Veterans Day Ceremony

November 11 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Local veterans groups will present their annual ceremony honoring all veterans. The DeLand Fire Department Honor Guard will post the colors, and several classes from St. Barnabas Episcopal School will sing. Veteran and retiring Mayor Bob Apgar will speak. Keynote speaker retired U.S. Army Maj. Ed Smith will speak on the topic “What is a veteran?” Dan Friend, who is leading the effort to return DeLand’s U.S. Army tugboat ST-479 Tiger, will have an update. Free and open to the public. Attendees are urged to wear masks if they feel inclined to do so, but they are not a requirement. After the ceremony, the DeLand Memorial Hospital and Veterans Museum will offer an open house and free tour of the military and local hero collections it contains.
