‘Volusia Reads Together’ Launch Party

Volusia Reads Together is a reading program that provides events and activities for residents of all ages. Featured book: the science-fiction novel Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Set in the near future, teacher turned astronaut Ryland Grace, who wakes up from a coma afflicted with amnesia, is sent to the Tau Ceti solar system to find a means of reversing a solar dimming event that could cause the extinction of humanity. At 1 p.m., Brendan Byrne will discuss ways astronauts can use garbage collected from the trash can and the toilet as fuel. At 3 p.m., Dr. Joshua Colwell will explore the strange menagerie of planets and how they got to be that way. There will also be space-themed games and crafts throughout the library. Free.
