Volusia County’s 2018-19 budget cleared its next-to-last hurdle Sept. 4, when the County Council voted unanimously to spend more than $900 million in the coming year, or about $3 million a day.

One more public hearing and a final vote on the budget and tax rate are set for Sept. 18.

The county plans to charge property owners 6.5458 mills, or about $6.55 per $1,000 of taxable value.

Members of the public are welcome to the final public hearing, scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the county administration center at 123 W. Indiana Ave. in DeLand.

No one from the community addressed the County Council at its Sept. 4 hearing.
