For the first time in its 85-year history, RaceTrac, one of America’s leading convenience-store destinations, with six stores in West Volusia, recently announced the launch of its new franchise program.

RT Franchising Inc. is currently seeking experienced, qualified candidates for immediate franchise opportunities at three currently company-owned and -operated stores in Volusia and Lake counties: one in DeLand at 1286 E. International Speedway Blvd., and stores in Clermont and Mount Dora.

“These existing locations were selected based on the potential for franchisees to benefit from RaceTrac’s strong brand reputation that spans 170 stores and a 30-year history in the Central Florida region,” a RaceTrac spokeswoman said.

“Additionally, these stores are modern, conveniently located and designed to provide delicious food and beverage favorites for the guest on-the-go,” she added. “Each store features Swirl World frozen dessert stations, large coffee areas with a new freshly ground, freshly brewed ‘Crazy Good Coffee’ experience and a shoppable layout.”

RaceTrac franchise owners will benefit from the Atlanta-based, family-owned brand’s conveniently located stores, comprehensive training program and proven experience in marketing, operations and merchandising. In addition, franchise owners will be able to take advantage of the company’s strong brand reputation and presence in the Central Florida region.

“Now, in our 85th year, we are capitalizing on our conveniently located stores, and expertise in fuel and merchandise retailing, to recruit and support qualified entrepreneurs in Central Florida,” said Natalie Morhous, president of RaceTrac. “We look forward to working with franchise owners on this exciting new business opportunity.”

The three modern stores in DeLand, Clermont and Mount Dora currently boast average fuel gallon sales nearly three times the National Association of Convenience Stores industry average.

Five other company-operated RaceTrac stores in West Volusia — one on South Woodland Boulevard in DeLand, one on Saxon Boulevard in Orange City, and three in Deltona (on Howland Boulevard, Saxon Boulevard and Deltona Boulevard) — are not being offered to franchisees at this time, the spokeswoman said.

RaceTrac franchisees should have strategic agility, business acumen, integrity and the ability to build an effective team. Ideal candidates will possess a desire to join a hands-on business opportunity where franchisees are actively involved in the day-to-day operations. Potential franchisees also should have a net worth of at least $700,000 and liquidity of at least $350,000.

Candidates who meet these preliminary qualifications will be required to make an initial investment ranging from approximately $1 million to $1.4 million, depending on the size of the store, store location, and equipment costs.
