After 17 years in business just north of DeLand, Tractor Supply Co. has opened in a new location at 101 E. International Speedway Blvd., in a portion of what used to be a Sears Essentials and Kmart store in the Northgate Shopping Center.
Tractor Supply’s new store had a soft opening Aug. 15, said store manager Rob Ullery.
“This is a larger location with more parking than we had,” Ullery said. “Best of all, everything except lumber and fencing is inside now.”
A grand opening is scheduled Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 5-8. As part of the family-friendly celebration, customers will receive a 10% discount on all purchases made at the store, on top of already great prices, according to a news release.
During the main event on Saturday, Sept. 7, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the store’s team members, learn about Tractor Supply’s product offerings, shop discounted items, and enjoy fun activities for the whole family. The West Volusia Humane Society will have adoptable animals ready to find their forever homes. And a local tractor enthusiast group will display a full line of beautifully restored antique tractors.
Additionally, the store will give away gift cards and Tractor Supply hats while supplies last, the news release said.
The DeLand Tractor Supply is a one-stop shop serving farmers, livestock and pet owners, ranchers, part-time and hobby farmers, gardeners, homeowners, tradesmen and others. Ullery pointed out that he sees many of the same customers almost every day.
“This is not retail, this is a lifestyle,” he said. “And all the people who work here have an agricultural or farming background. One employee raises goats, and another raises chickens. That’s what I look for when I’m hiring, and I hire a lot of 4-H kids.”
The layout of the new store is slightly different than it was in the previous location, Ullery said.
“It’s lots more customer-friendly, with wider aisles and much more space even with the outside merchandise being brought inside,” he said.
The new store also has a pet wash station, Ullery said.
“People can pay $9.99 to wash their pets using our soap and towels,” he said. “We have a grooming table where they can also clip their pet’s nails, although we can’t supply the clippers for liability reasons.”
In addition to carrying merchandise for farm, ranch and rural customers, the DeLand Tractor Supply will regularly host events with community partners, including local animal shelters, area 4-H clubs and FFA chapters, and more, according to the news release.
In fact, on Aug. 24 the store hosted animal adoptions, a pet-supplies drive and more during a companywide “Out Here With Animals” celebration — an annual monthlong event that recognizes pets, animals and the people who care for them.
The DeLand Tractor Supply store’s regular business hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday. The store’s phone number is 386-740-2406.
