Motorists traveling to DeLand this weekend will want to plan ahead as several roads will be closed for special events.

  • The annual Volusia County Veterans Day Parade, presented by the DeLand Naval Air Station Museum and MainStreet DeLand Association, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. Woodland Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8:30 a.m. to noon from Plymouth to Voorhis Avenue for the parade.
  • At noon Saturday, Stetson University will kick off its homecoming football game against the University of San Diego at Spec Martin Stadium. The north and south bound lanes of Alabama Avenue from Euclid to Hubbard Avenue and Hubbard from Amelia to Alabama Avenue will all be closed to vehicular traffic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
  • West Georgia Avenue from Woodland Boulevard to Florida Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday for MainStreet DeLand Association’s Bourbon, Brews & Blues, which begins at 2 p.m. More information on the event may be found at www.mainstreetdeland.org
  • West Georgia Avenue will also be closed to vehicular traffic from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Cycle for Life event, which will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contact number for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is 407-339-2976.
