Editor, The Beacon: 

While I never served in the military (polio, not bone spurs), many family and friends did. 

None died, but one friend left half a leg in Vietnam. 

I always thought of them as heroes defending democracy. But my president calls them “losers and suckers.” 

What am I to believe?
