Hearn is an active member of the West Volusia community and sits on the Board of AdventHealth, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties, Mainstreet DeLand Association, Vice President of the Volusia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and former President of the Board of Directors of the DeLand Area Chamber of Commerce.
Hearn also sits on several volunteer committees, including Team Volusia Investor Relations Committee, NAACP Community Coordination, Volunteer of the Year Committee for the City of DeLand and is Chair of the West Volusia Education Committee that recognizes schools with the Danny Ganin School of Excellence and Teacher of the Year for West Volusia through the Crystal Apple Awards.
Once again, the DeLand Breakfast Rotary sold out its Albert D. Downs Wild Game Feast. Staple menu items at the fundraising feast celebrate Cracker cuisine and feature fried alligator, pulled pig, venison chili, cooter and other Florida favorites.
“Nothing is more satisfying than a feast made from wild food, gathered and cooked by a group of friends,” Al Downs is quoted as saying. Downs is credited with being one of the founders of the Wild Game Feast, and it was named in his honor when he died. The event routinely raises more than $100,000 each year to support West Volusia nonprofit organizations.
