Bill Griese performs the music of James Taylor

Sweet Baby James, the official Nashville-based James Taylor tribute, brings the next best thing to seeing James himself to DeLand!

If you’re a James Taylor fan, then the Athens Theatre in DeLand is definitely where you’ll want to be. Get ready for an intimate, acoustic evening of JT’s greatest hits and hidden gems played just for you, as Nashville’s “Sweet Baby James” (singer-songwriter Bill Griese) brings his solo Walking Man tour to DeLand.

Sweet Baby James sounds so much like Taylor vocally, and plays his signature guitar style so closely and convincingly, there are times you’ll close your eyes and swear you’re listening to the legend himself.

Come hear the nation’s most authentic-sounding James Taylor tribute, and get ready to sing along to your favorite hits, like “Fire and Rain,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Handy Man,” “Shower the People,” “Carolina in My Mind” and, of course, “Sweet Baby James” — plus enjoy some wonderful deep cuts as well.

Sweet Baby James will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the historic Athens Theatre, 124 N. Florida Ave. in Downtown DeLand.

Tickets cost $30 for preferred reserved seating (first six rows orchestra, and two rows center balcony), and $25 for general reserved seating. A $3-per-ticket processing charge and 6.5-percent sales tax will be added to each purchase.

All tickets will be available online at the Athens Theatre website at www.AthensDeLand.com, or by calling the box office at 386-736-1500. Box-office hours are 1-5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 1 1/2 hours before live performances.
