The DeLand Fire Department and other local fire agencies responded to an early-morning fire in southeast DeLand today, Feb. 4.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire in a single-family home at 112 Curry Rise Court in the Victoria Hills subdivision in DeLand at 12:41 this morning, Feb. 4, according to a report from the DeLand Fire Department. 

DeLand’s Fire Engine 83 was met with “heavy fire conditions,” the report says, and firefighters identified the fire’s origin as the home’s garage. The garage sustained heavy damage from the fire, according to the report, while the home itself sustained damage from smoke.

Two people were home at the time of the fire, but no one was injured, the report notes. 

With assistance from Volusia County Fire Rescue, the Orange City Fire Department and Deltona Fire Department, firefighters extinguished the main blaze within five minutes of their arrival.

The Fire Department report continues, “The Red Cross was contacted to work with the home owners.”
