The most authentic Beach Boys tribute band returns to the Athens Theatre in DeLand with their striped shirts, vintage guitars, tight vocal arrangements, and the timeless songs of the all-time greatest 1960s pop group. Get your tickets early so that you don’t miss the endless “Fun, Fun, Fun” of The Beach Buoys’ re-creation of the Southern California surf scene.

“Do You Wanna Dance?” Then “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” to sing “I Get Around” on the “Sloop John B” as she sails to “Kokomo.” The Beach Buoys will bring “Surfin’ USA” to life on the stage of DeLand’s historic Athens Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 13.

The very next night, audiences will be “Feelin’ Groovy” listening to the songs of folk rock’s most famous duo, Simon and Garfunkel.

Backed by a full band, brothers Todd and Greg Pitts make up The Boxers, a tribute band with a vocal blend that is perfection, as they take you back to classic tunes like “Scarborough Fair,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “The Sound of Silence” and many more, including some of Paul Simon’s outstanding solo songs.

Again, buy your favorite seats early for The Boxers’ performance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14.

Moving back in time for the third great sound of this Athens Theatre weekend full of musical nostalgia, The Orlando Big Band (OBB) will make a triumphant return to the Athens at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15.

The 20-piece band, plus four vocal soloists, will reproduce the solid rhythms, rocking woodwinds and blaring brass of hot arrangements from Benny Goodman and Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Artie Shaw, and many others.

The Athens Theatre is at 124 N. Florida Ave. in Downtown DeLand.

Tickets cost $35 for preferred reserved seating (rows A-E, center) and $30 for general reserved seating. A $3-per-ticket processing charge and 6.5-percent sales tax will be added to each purchase.
