Gracie Bell and Ducati got to be the star models for a June 2 photo shoot in Downtown DeLand featuring Volusia Fire Rescue’s new ambulance.

The golden retrievers trotted down to help in the celebration from nearby Gurrs & Purrs, where the dogs — and their owner Kate Hartikka — are clients.

The new ambulance will serve Station 44 at 132 N. Fountain Drive in Pierson, and will better serve Pierson and the rest of northwest Volusia.

Gurrs & Purrs owner Rhonda Hobbs said providing the dogs to dress up the photos — in the name of community — went smoothly.

“It was fun,” she said. The only hitch was the temptation of the nearby fountain in the courtyard of the Volusia County administration center. Leaping into the water looked like a lot more fun than the photo shoot to the golden retrievers, Hobbs said.

However, Gracie Bell and Ducati were both good girls and managed to stay focused on their modeling assignment.
