Celebrate the spirit and the joy of the holiday season with Stetson University’s four Christmas Candlelight Concerts Nov. 30 – Dec. 3 on the DeLand campus and in downtown Orlando.
Tickets will go on sale online Saturday and typically sell out quickly. The concerts feature beloved Christmas Carols andnew choral music focused on light and hope during three concerts in Lee Chapel in Elizabeth Hall on the DeLand campus and one concert at First United Methodist Church of Orlando in downtown Orlando.
For more than 100 years, the School of Music’s jubilant choirs have been captivating audiences with their breathtaking holiday performance, which has evolved into an evening dedicated to sacred music from various cultural and religious traditions.
The concerts showcase more than 150 student musicians from the Stetson University Concert Choir, Hatter Choir, Stetson Chorale and instrumentalists from the Chamber Orchestra and Symphonic Band.
With a theme this year of “Light For a New Day,” the concerts will conclude with “Silent Night,” sung by multiple choirs as they light candles. Timothy Peter, DMA, will be conducting and joined by Stetson faculty members, Sandra Peter, DMA, conducting the Stetson Chorale, and Boyd Jones, DMA, University Organist.
“We are very excited to welcome our community to experience this concert in person and together as we share our theme with all who are participating that truly, there is ‘light for a new day’ in our future,” said Timothy Peter, director of Choral Activities.
The four Christmas Candlelight Concerts will be held Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Chapel; Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Chapel; Friday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Chapel; and Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Orlando, 142 E. Jackson St., in downtown Orlando.
All seating is general admission. Tickets are $40 and will go on sale online on Saturday, Oct. 1.
