Editor, The Beacon:
We, six former members of the Volusia County Council, ardently endorse Rick Karl for the Florida House of Representatives, District 29.
While we have been elected in nonpartisan races, we are registered Republicans and Democrats.
We all worked with Rick. He is a man of good judgment, ability and integrity from a revered four-generation Volusia County family, a family with a proud history of public service.
Rick led Volusia County’s economic-development effort for more than a decade, and also guided the Daytona Beach International Airport through difficult times.
He completed approximately $93 million in capital improvements, largely funded by state and federal grant funds, and oversaw a $13 million budget using no ad valorem tax dollars.
By the time he retired from the county, the Daytona Beach International Airport had a positive economic impact of $2.1 billion.
No matter the challenge, we could always rest easy knowing the airport was in Rick’s steady, capable hands.
He served the county well, and he will serve the voters of House District 29 as a sensible, judicious voice in Tallahassee.
We urge you to vote for Rick Karl.
