MARISELLE BUTLER WITH HER MOSAIC "UNBROKEN"

Mariselle Butler is the Deltona Art Club’s Artist of the Month for December. A new member of the club, Butler amazes with her creative art. Her mosaic Unbroken is on display in the entrance of Deltona City Hall through December. It is designed with a variation of media and technique: charcoal, graphite, charcoal color, pastel, liquid graphite, gold paper and liquid-gold acrylic paint.

Butler was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a child, she learned and practiced graphic designing at her family’s printing business. With the passion for art in her blood, she then studied at Polytechnic University and earned a degree in industrial engineering.

After graduation, Butler and her two daughters moved to Florida. Using her graphic-designing knowledge, she worked for La Prensa in Orlando, followed by the El Nuevo Dia newspaper as the creative-director assistant.

In 2015, Butler started a new career as a licensed health insurance agent. She now owns Butler Insurance Services with her husband, Marc.

Mariselle dedicated her free time to creating beautiful artwork, sharing her talent by providing free art classes, and doing art exhibits and shows, cheered on by her husband and other family members. At the same time, she had the honor of working as a production creative director for Mujer Magazine.

Butler’s artistic style leads her to emotional realism using various media such as graphite, charcoal, pen ink and colored pencils.

Recently, she received the iLatina of Art Award from the Volusia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The Deltona Art Club meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month September-April at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave. New members are warmly welcomed.
