A DeLand Police officer was patrolling a zone in the city around 2 in the morning Oct. 7 when he saw “a white female slumped over on the sidewalk” at an intersection. She was unresponsive until the officer asked her if she was OK.

At that point, the woman “immediately woke up and stated she was alright.”

She gave the lawman her name, and he was able to pull up information on her. She was 35 years old, stood 5 foot 6, and had strawberry-blond hair.

The officer “immediately noticed there were what appeared to be small white crystal rocks on the ground” where the Strawberry Blond had been slumped over. He tested them, and they were presumptive positive for crack cocaine and fentanyl.

Had the lady been partying by herself out on the sidewalk in the middle of the night?

She was arrested, and her evening ended with a trip to the Volusia County Branch Jail — which is better than the trip to the morgue that might have resulted from using fentanyl.
