Backpack Buddies is teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and  Advent Health to distribute food to our community in need by hosting a Drive-Thru Food giveaway on Friday, December 1st  at 9am- while supplies last at PFC L. Emory Bennett Veterans Memorial Park, 1365 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Orange City. Advent Health will bring over 20 employees from West Volusia hospitals, along with Backpack Buddies team of volunteers to MAKE FAMILIES WHOLE TOGETHER in this distribution. Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida will donate a semi-truck of food as well. Recipients will drive up, pop open their truck, and volunteers will place several perishable and nonperishable food items in the trunk of the vehicles.

The giveaway is made possible through Backpack Buddies, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and Advent Health’s partnership with several community partners such as Amazon, Volusia County, the City of Orange City and several additional volunteers.

Over 30,000 pounds of food will be distributed. There will be perishable and non-perishable food items that could include frozen meats, breads, produce, pastries, dog food, paper products and many other products. The program is open to all Volusia County residents.  ID is not required.

“We are extremely grateful for our partnerships with so many of our community members who have stepped up to supply critical resources for those most in need in our community. We look forward to providing this food and nutrition to the community,” says Kelli Marks, founder of Backpack Buddies.  Backpack Buddies held its last food giveaway in Orange City on September 22nd, donating over 40,000 pounds of food to over 500 families and their pets.
