Candidates for DeLand mayor will participate in a debate co-hosted by The West Volusia Beacon and the Stetson University Center for Community Engagement at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 21.
The debate will take place in the Stetson Room on the second floor of the Carlton Union Building, 131 E. Minnesota Ave. in DeLand. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and seating is limited to about 250 people.
The debate will also be broadcast live online on The Beacon’s Facebook page, HERE. The archive of the video will be available for viewing once the debate is over.
All of the current candidates for DeLand mayor — Reggie Williams, Chris Cloudman and Buz Nesbit — have agreed to participate in the debate, answering questions from The Beacon and the audience. Any additional candidates who throw their hat in the ring will also be invited.
The deadline to file to run for mayor of DeLand is noon Friday, June 17.
Voters who live in DeLand will go to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 23, to choose a mayor and three city commissioners. The deadline to be registered to vote in that election is Monday, July 25. Visit the Elections Office website HERE for more information.
