LOCAL HEADQUARTERS — Sparton Corporation’s headquarters staff is based at the company’s main production facility at 5612 Johnson Lake Road in DeLeon Springs.

A local defense firm has landed yet another U.S. Defense Department contract.

The Navy has awarded a $26.8 million contract to Sparton LLC in DeLeon Springs for the production of low-frequency transducers, components for underwater detection and communications equipment. The production is supposed to be completed in 2027.

The latest contract comes after Sparton and its parent company, ERAPSCO, won a $222.5 million Navy contract for the manufacture and delivery of some 36,000 sonobuoys. Sonobuoys are used in anti-submarine warfare. Most of the contract’s effort, 69 percent, will take place at Sparton’s DeLeon Springs plant.

In addition, Sparton and ERAPSCO last September received a contract of $181.9 million for the production of 126,000 sonobuoys. Most of that work order, 54 percent, is being done in DeLeon Springs.
