After 14 months on the job, Tammy Mauldin has submitted her resignation as executive director of the DeLand Area Chamber of Commerce & Orange City Alliance.
“I submitted my resignation to the board of directors last Wednesday,” Mauldin told The Beacon Jan. 21. “My last day will be Feb. 28.”
A search has begun for a successor.
“I have sincerely enjoyed being a part of this community and supporting the growth of West Volusia businesses,” Mauldin said in a news release announcing her departure. “I want to thank the Chamber board for its support, guidance and comradery. In the remaining weeks, my focus will be on helping to ensure a smooth transition for all involved.”
Mauldin said she is moving to Richmond, Virginia, for personal reasons, but will miss all the people she has worked with and for.
“It’s bittersweet, for sure,” she said of her departure.
Mauldin joined the Chamber staff as director of membership and member services in September 2016, and was named executive director in November 2018. She left The Daytona Beach News-Journal, where she was a multimedia consultant, to join the Chamber staff. Before that, she was a client manager and small-business specialist for Bank of America.
“Tammy has been an asset to this Chamber and a valued part of the West Volusia community. During her time here, she has been instrumental in strengthening the Chamber’s memberships, partnerships and programming,” Amanda Agnew, Chamber president for 2019 and most of Mauldin’s tenure as executive director, said in the news release. “She will be dearly missed, but we wish her well on her future endeavors.”
“Tammy has helped our business community be better, stronger and more profitable,” incoming Chamber President Lita Kapuscinski, who will be installed later this month, said in the news release. “As we celebrate our 130th year as the oldest Chamber in the State of Florida, we look forward to continuing our mission of advocacy, networking and business leader development.”
According to the news release, the Chamber’s mission is to advocate for its members by helping the business community identify and respond to challenges; provide opportunities for networking, education and deliberation; and develop community leaders.
