The popular DeLand restaurant BakeChop has recently expanded to include a market.

Opened in May, BakeChop Market was previously known as The Old Town Butcher before being purchased by BakeChop restaurant owner Taylor Bass. “My dad owned The Old Town Butcher, but I’ve been trying to take it over for a while now,” said Taylor. “I wanted to elevate the shop, improve it and make it into something unique and different, and that’s just what we did.”

More than just meats and cheeses, BakeChop Market offers a variety of items, including grab-and-go sides, pastries, baked goods, kabobs, countless condiments and fixings from locals like Old Florida Farms, and of course, their famous custom cuts. “We are a full-service butcher shop and offer hand-cut-to-order meats, freezer packages, as well as house-made sausage,” said Taylor.

The market also sells artisan-style sandwiches, as well as prepared meals. “Its like BakeChop’s take on meal prep,” said Taylor. “Most prepared meals can be kind of boring. But our meals have the same quality and taste as our food at the restaurant because it’s prepared at BakeChop by our talented chefs.”

Bringing that same talent and flavor that the BakeChop restaurant is known for to the Market makes this shop an instant success. “You can go anywhere to get food, but you go to BakeChop because you know there’s that extra care,” said Taylor. “We’re just known for that little extra elevation, a little extra flavor, and that’s the same thing that you can find at the Market.”

Offering online ordering, curbside pickup, and catering, BakeChop Market is a great place to pick up lunch, dinner, or even cater your event. “We do catering and platters,” said Taylor. “We can make you sandwich platters, custom charcuterie boards, and we also offer bulk catering items.”

BakeChop Market is located at 320 S. Spring Garden Ave. in DeLand. Their hours are 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday–Friday, and 9 a.m.–4 p.m. on Saturday.
