The Volusia/Flagler Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association has selected newly retired Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes as the 2022 Roger Pynn Great Communicator.
The Great Communicator to be awarded to Montes is the highest local honor for a professional for a lifetime of achievement and excellence in public relations. The award is named for Roger Pynn, APR, CPRC, a public relations industry leader in Florida who was state FPRA president in 2015-2016 and has served as a strategic adviser to the FPRA Volusia/Flagler Chapter since 2016.
Montes retired in July after 28 years as an FHP trooper and public affairs officer. Over the years, she educated the public on car seat and seat belt safety and the dangers of distracted driving. She provided public information for thousands of traffic emergencies, including many national and international cases.
