“With his experience leading in faith-based health care, and his passion for the mission of our organization, David will help drive our vision forward in East Volusia County,” said AdventHealth President/CEO Terry Shaw.

For his new role, Weis will return to AdventHealth Daytona Beach, where he previously served as vice president and chief operating officer. In addition to his responsibilities overseeing the hospital, he will provide market leadership for the network of facilities in East Volusia County, working closely with his leadership team to develop and execute the strategic direction for market growth and operational performance.

“David and his team will continue to advance the great work at AdventHealth Daytona Beach and the East Volusia market to be a leader in safety and quality excellence across our facilities and service lines,” Dr. Audrey Gregory, president and CEO of AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division – North Region, said.

Weis currently serves as president/CEO for AdventHealth DeLand, a role he assumed in 2020 following his time as chief operating officer at AdventHealth Daytona Beach. Prior to joining AdventHealth, he served as vice president of operations and chief operating officer for Adventist Health Ukiah Valley in Northern California, where he provided oversight of operations in the ambulatory and acute care areas of a 68-bed regional medical center with more than 800 employees.

Weis has a Bachelor of Science in biology from Southwestern Adventist University, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Loma Linda University. He also earned an MBA in health care management from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.

“I am honored to serve alongside the incredible AdventHealth leaders, providers and teams across Volusia County to continue to advance our mission in this community,” Weis said. “I look forward to reconnecting with my colleagues at AdventHealth Daytona Beach to bring healing and wholeness to the people we serve.”

In his free time, Weis enjoys spending time with his wife, Melanie, and their two boys, Lucas, 8, and Mark, 6. He is an avid CrossFit athlete and likes boating, water sports, cycling and photography.

  1. I’m a 76 year woman and I know that have a parasite infection. I have been to several doctors who say that I have some mental problem which is insulting. I have requested tests that were denied. My GP when I went to see him at the on start told me I had nothing. Every doctor after this reads this and states you have nothing with no further examination or independent diagnosis. The worse experience I have had was at Advent, Daytona Beach. Still looking for someone to help me. I do not know what these doctors think that I travel all over trying to find a doctor to care for me for fun. An emergency doctor who did not have a name tag so I do not know her name came to talk to me with an attitude. She already had decided that I had no medical issues based on my Advent patient portal like everyone else. She states are these doctors all wrong and I said Yes. She talked over me did not want to hear anything I said and was down right nasty. It was as though she was scolding me for wasting her time. I have never been treated like that in my long life. She spent 5 minutes belittling me and then said to David who just stood there during the whole visit “we are done here” and turned her back and both left me. I had a blood pressure sleeve on which she did not take off and did not have me sign a discharge form and they both walked away. I’m now going to an infectious disease doctor in New Jersey where I grew up as it seems that every doctor here just wants to say I’m crazy and walk away. This woman doctor was a horrible, nasty woman and like I said never examined me and was with me five minutes. She did not do anything as she was too busy insulting me. I do have to say that everyone else in the hospital were very nice, but David not so much as he just stood there. I do not ever complain but this was just a horrible experience for someone my age to have done to them. Advent health has me on this page a release form for me to sign and I’m not signing it, she gave no exam just stood there for five minutes insulting me and then said to David “we are done here”. I was therefore surprised to find on my portal all tests done, etc. Nothing was done so whatever is stated was done, it is not true. No examination was conducted and no tests were ordered even though I stated my blood pressure was low and my heart beat elevated. Now I am expected to sign an aftercare instruction declaration when there was no exam and no release instructions given either verbally or written. I am sending a copy of this message to both the Medicare Contact Center Operations and the Florida Board of Medicine. You may want to consider that before billing for services not rendered.
